Mayra F. Hernández, Vice President, Multicultural Marketing

With more than fifteen years experience in community, governmental and media relations, Mayra Hernández, brings a strong community spirit and broad scope of public relations services to the Bitner Goodman team.

She has been instrumental in garnering local, national and international publicity for clients such as Winn-Dixie Stores, Simon Malls, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, The National Hockey League, The City of Hollywood (Florida), American Express’ Latin American and Caribbean Division and Dow Chemical.

Presently, as Account Manager for Winn-Dixie Stores Southern Region, Hernández is responsible for developing and implementing neighborhood-specific PR programs and marketing initiatives for more than 125 stores. This includes special events, promotions, strategic partnerships and community outreach initiatives in the South Florida Hispanic market.

Hernández’ successes include an image and branding unification campaign for the City of Hollywood, the creation and design of several community outreach programs and collateral materials including the City’s quarterly resident’s newsletter, Hollywood Horizons, and the City’s annual report.

As the point person for American Express’ Latin American and Caribbean Division, Hernández worked closely with tourism boards and local hotel associations to enhance marketing initiatives in the Caribbean region. This included overseeing the Island of the Month marketing promotion, the launch of consumer card products for its global network services division and philanthropic activities in Latin America and the Caribbean through the American Express Foundation and the World Monuments Watch.

Hernández’ spirit of community extends internationally. She currently is the chairwoman of the board of directors for Hollywood Sister Cities International Program where she has traveled abroad promoting cultural and governmental exchanges. She presently sits on the boards of the Greater Hollywood YMCA and the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. In 2008, Hernández was presented with the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Small Business Person of the Year award.

Other honors include the 2006 “Hispanic Woman of Distinction” award for her significant contributions to the South Florida community and a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence from PRSA for the campaign she co-developed for the Florida Department of Transportation entitled “Tamiami Trail—The Future is Up to You”.

Hernández lives in Hollywood with her two teenage children, Jessica and Frankie.
